Rose Zhang has created a stir in the female golf world this season and has been doing well since she turned professional. But as the 20-year-old prodigy missed her first cut of the season at the Dana Open, another LPGA Pro was quick to grab the opportunity and rise at the event.

After giving an excellent performance in the second round, Park was questioned at the presser whether something clicked differently this time compared to her other starts. Replying to which Park opened up about her recent struggles and how she is working on improving them.

She said, “Yeah, I mean, I’ve had a couple struggling tournaments, a couple of rounds. And I just grinded, just grinded and stuck to my practice routine and told myself that one day it’s going to click. So just trying to focus each shot one at a time out there and just not get distracted.”

While Annie is enjoying her breakout performance, the tournament turned out a big disappointment for young phenom Rose Zhang. She missed her first cut as a professional after playing rounds of 66-77. After the opening round, Zhang said that her health was not well at the moment. “I will say that I’m a little more fatigued than I would like to be. I caught a cold, so my voice is not exactly the most normal right now.” However, this opportunity was well used by Park who is ruling the charts. This must come as a great relief for her as she worked on her form after having some disappointment in her recent events.

Annie Park’s unsuccessful attempts at recent tournaments

Park had been struggling during some tournaments this season where she either finished much low or couldn’t make the cut at multiple events. She missed the cut last week at the coveted US Women’s Open which ended up disappointing her. Before that, she played at the KMPG Women’s Championship where she finished in the 74th position. And her attempts at the Meijer LPGA Classic and Mizuho Americas Open were also a bust as she got cut at those events too. She finished on the 63rd spot at the Cognizant Founders Cup and again missed the cut at the Chevron Championship.

However, with her terrific performance at the Dana Open, it is evident that Annie has indeed grinded hard for a better outcome. And her chances of winning the tournament have also increased.
