However, he wasn’t a PGA Tour pro until 2021, when he claimed his first PGA Tour victory at the Corales Championship after hard work. Thus, the golfer was visibly proud. But that’s not all, because Dahmen’s success doesn’t stop there.

He’s also made his mark on the PGA Tour Canada, with two wins under his belt. In addition, the golfer is also popular on the Gateway Tour, where he’s secured three victories. With such a glittering career of multiple wins, one would think that Dahmen doesn’t have any issues in the world. But the reality is quite the opposite and rather daunting.

Cancer was Joel Dahmen’s biggest enemy

One cannot even imagine the things the golfer had to go through and we pray no one has to suffer like Dahmen, whose life was forever changed when he faced two devastating blows, testicular cancer and losing his mom to cancer in high school. In a recent interview with Mark Immelman on his YouTube Channel, the golfer described how losing his rock left him feeling lost and uncertain.

“I also probably… even bigger than myself, but I lost my mom to cancer when I was in high school and I was kind of a lost kid, right? I went from a small town to a big city, got swallowed up by the big university, was just kind of a lost ship,” he said.

After losing his mom, the golfer felt lost, and it took years to heal, but ultimately, it made him resilient. “You know, I didn’t have a rudder; my mom was my rudder, basically. She was my best friend,” he said. But tragedy struck again as soon as things started to look a little clearer.

After hitting rock bottom, Dahmen received a wake-up call that changed everything. He realized he was letting life slip away, and that sparked a fire within him. “I was wasting my opportunities. I didn’t want to be the guy that looked back and told everyone how great I was back in the day,” he said. But what did the golfer do to turn his life around? Well, he explained that as well.

One can only imagine beating cancer and coming out stronger than ever, but that’s what happened to Joel Dahmen. Dahmen’s life took a dramatic turn after beating cancer. After completing chemotherapy, the golfer’s incredible journey kick-started, and that’s when he met his soulmate, who became his rock. Yes, we are talking about his wife, Lona Dahmen.

“After not long after I was done with chemo, that’s when I met my wife. She also kind of became my new rudder. So, I say, having cancer myself really changed my outlook going forward,” he said.

Things fell into place, and Joel hasn’t looked back. It’s amazing how life came full circle, right? Who would’ve imagined that battling cancer to find love would be Dahmen’s story? Well, he sure didn’t, and soon after that, his game also improved.
