John Daly is one of the most successful golfers today and has many records under his name. His fans love to hear his tales of success on the course. The internet has tons of stories about Daly’s achievements on the field. However, only a few people know that he once injured himself but somehow managed to win a tournament.

John Daly once claimed his victory despite his ‘broken’ hand

Daly was in an interview with Graham Bensinger and talked about an incident when he broke his hand right before an important tournament. Daly admitted hitting a television with his bare hands in South Africa after his divorce from ex-wife, Dale. The golfer was upset due to the split, when his ex-wife allegedly took the money after the divorce.

Daly mentioned that he believed he was strong enough to put his hand through the TV, but it didn’t go through. “I was upset that we got a divorce and all that, so I beat up a hotel room,” Daly said. “I still had another round of golf to play, maybe two if I make the cut” Daly mentioned that Peter Van Der was playing with him during the tournament.

Van Der, who used to call Daly ‘Pro’, said, “Pro you’re not playing; there’s no way you’re playing today”.  Daly said he broke his hand after the incident, but the catch is that he still won the tournament the same day. The golfer had his hand bandaged by a friend and added, “I just gripped the left hand tighter and next thing you know comes Sunday I beat John Bland in the final round and won the tournament”.

Daly’s wife accused him of beating her

After describing the hotel room he damaged, he stated he gave the prize money to the hotel to compensate for all the damage. Daly then talked about how after his argument with his wife, he also caused damage to a part of his house and his office.

But the headlines told a completely different story. According to Daly’s ex-wife, the golfer had beat her up along with the house. “Apparently Betty had said something that I might have pushed her or touched her hair” Daly detailed. But he denied any such incidents and said that he never violated a woman in his life.

Daly’s personal life has always been interesting to know about for his fans. The golf professional is currently dating Anna Cladakis. Rumors say that the two might get married soon, but there is no official news confirming their wedding yet.
