‘I Would Never Put That on National TV’: Justin Thomas Delivered a Strong Response to Phil Mickelson’s Awkward Dancing Video

Phil Mickelson is one of the most controversial golfers of all time. The six-time major winner has made tons of records in the field. But his fans know him better for the unique things he does outside the field. Mickelson once danced in a commercial, while his fellow golfers gave all kinds of reactions to the video.

Mickelson is known for doing things that no one else would do. And a similar thing happened when he agreed to perform in a Mizzen+Main commercial where he had to dance on screen. The golfer even did his signature “worm” during the advertisement. However, his friends in the golfing community did not agree to do the same as him if they had to.

PGA Tour loyalist, Justin Thomas, was sitting in an interview with Rory McIlroy. And out of nowhere, McIlroy picked up a conversation about Mickelson’s viral “dance” commercial. “That was unbelievable,” he said. When the reporters asked Thomas if he’d do the same if he was offered to, he had an unexpected reaction. “Absolutely, not,” he laughed and said. “One, I’m a lot better dancer than that. Two, I would never put that on national TV.”

While McIlroy had something completely off the rack going on in his head. He said, “We were saying last night, like what are his kids’ friends going to say when they go back to school?” However, McIlroy added that they loved Phil Mickelson for everything he did. According to Mickelson, doing this commercial got him out of his comfort zone and made him do new things. His wife, Amy Mickelson also supported him throughout the process and gave him ideas as well.

Thomas targeted Phil Mickelson for his PGA Tour comments

Justin Thomas and all other PGA Tour players were good friends with Phil Mickelson until he joined the LIV Golf league. And after Thomas found out about Lefty’s controversial comments about the PGA Tour, he was stunned. “Shocking. Never would have guessed,” Thomas said. “he’s done a lot of great things for the PGA Tour… if they’re that passionate, go ahead.”

Thomas did not expect that Mickelson would have made such hateful statements about the PGA Tour. And things haven’t been as they were ever since the LIV Golf league came into existence. Many players including Mickelson have fled to the new circuit. However, some are still loyal to the PGA Tour.
