LIV Golf has been in controversy for a long time now. Greg Norman has successfully managed to bring out the best talents like Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson from the PGA Tour and get them to play in his league. However, the two tours are raging rivals at each other’s throat as of now, with no hopes of a merger any time soon.

The fans have made their support transparent towards their favorite tour. It was seen under a recent tweet by LIV Golf featuring Dustin Johnson where fans left no stone unturned to roast the new league.

But does LIV Golf deserve so much criticism?

LIV Golf recently posted a video on Twitter of Dustin Johnson. The former world No. 1 was seen attempting a putt in the event. But the ball just entered the hole and came right out for some reason.

The disappointment was visible on Johnson’s face. The LIV Tour posted the video and wrote, “If Monday was a putt…”, meaning Johnson’s shot was as disappointing as it is when one realizes it’s a Monday.

But golf fans gave all kinds of reactions to the tweet. A person even said, “If Monday was a “golf tour”…” pointing toward the LIV Golf league. It seems that a lot of fans are disappointed by the mere existence of the Saudi-funded league. It could be the reason why almost no fans turned up to watch the game live. Here are some other interesting reactions from golf fans on Twitter:

Why did Dustin Johnson join the LIV Golf league?

38-year-old Dustin Johnson is now officially a member of the LIV Golf league. Johnson made a statement in February where he stated how he was “fully committed to the PGA Tour”. But it came as a surprise when Johnson was among the first 42 players to play in the initial events of the tour.

Johnson’s agent said it was in the player’s family’s best interest a statement. “Dustin has been contemplating the opportunity off-and-on for the past couple of years,” David Winkle’s statement said. “Ultimately, he decided it was in his and his family’s best interest to pursue it. Dustin has never had an issue with the PGA Tour and is grateful for all it has given him, but in the end, felt this was too compelling to pass up.”

Dustin Johnson’s immediate and sudden transition to the new tour has shocked his fans to the core. But it felt a little less surprising after other new players started joining the LIV League. New names are being added to the tour every day. Only time will tell who else will join LIV.
