Tear-jerking statement by Rory McIlroy
Garrett Johnston, the host of ‘Beyond the Clubhouse’ podcast and sports journalist/presenter, uploaded a video of Rory where he was seen talking to him and asking him questions about his parents. The Golf Monthly writer asked, “Your dad Jerry, what did he teach you about a selfless lesson in your life that you take on even today?”

Rory sounded grateful and thanked his parents for their sacrifices to allow him to pursue his dream of becoming a golfer. Both his mom and dad worked extremely hard to support the family and to have some nice things. They wanted to give their family the experience of holidays, too. Rory then talked about his father and his selflessness. He said, “I’ll never be able to repay them for what they did.”

His father used to do three jobs a day for a few years. He would get up early morning and go to one position, followed by a second in the afternoon. In the evening, he would go for his third job, and Rory did not see his hard work. His father continued working three jobs, almost 90 hours a week. And all this was to support Rory in achieving his dreams and goals.

Rory is an emotional soul.
Talking about his parents was not the only time the PGA Tour member got emotional; it happened in 2009, too, after the Ryder Cup. Earlier this year, he recalled Ryder Cup from when he was 19. And he got emotional, saying that Ryder Cup is the best golf event of all time. He isn’t the perfect Ryder Cup golfer, but the match deeply meant to him.
