2023 did not begin well for the LPGA tour players. They had a rocky start, with many golfers complaining about the tour needing to provide the basic amenities. Additionally, netizens did not appreciate their schedule for this season. However, such discrepancies in the essential comfort of the players have attracted negative attention from the media. Last year, too, they almost suffered an enormous loss

The LPGA’s season-opener, which honors individuals who have won trophies over the previous two years, might not have locker-room facilities. Players at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions might be changing their shoes in the parking lot. The arrangements hugely disappointed Matilda Castren and Ryann O’Toole.

Why are LPGA players unhappy with the tour?

American golfer Ryann O’Toole was hugely disappointed in sponsors and the LPGA authorities. It was because of their ineffective work she will have to share a car with a player, making it harder to work out of the trunk.

Per Golfweek, O’Toole said“I’m not mad at the club; I’m not mad at the sponsor. I’m annoyed at the LPGA for that just being an overlooked factor.”

According to an LPGA statement, the space provided to install temporary lockers did not even include a restroom area. The decision by authorities was questioned here. As a result of the absence of bathroom areas, they prioritized that space for other players’ uses. Therefore, the event organizers opted to pursue something other than the option of bathrooms.

After learning about the locker situation, Hilton Grand Vacations worked in partnership with Lake Nona Golf & Country Club and the LPGA to install 36 additional lockers prior to the official start of the HGV Tournament of Champions tomorrow. This ensures that every female at the tournament – both LPGA Players and celebrity players – has their own locker.

Are players not allowed to practice?

The locker room situation appalled Castren, because yet another issue was added to her unhappiness. Apart from the problem mentioned above, she was shocked after reading the player fact sheet on January 14. They laid out restrictions for players to practice at the Nona Golf Club. In the memo, the authorities informed players that they “may not use the practice facilities” more than one hour before their practice tee times.

However, that was only for one day. This practice facility policy was only in place for Sunday, January 15, which was an additional day added to the schedule to provide even more practice time to the players. Players will have full access to the course throughout the week once they are registered.
