Imagine playing with and beating your childhood favorite golfer. Now, imagine doing the same with the most legendary man to live, the one who has become the face of golf; Tiger Woods. John Daly II, or Little John as he used to be fondly called, recently experienced the exact same situation.
While omnipresent Tiger was an idol for everyone growing up, we can’t really say the same for Daly, can we? Considering his own father is a renowned professional golfer and 2-time major champion, he didn’t need to go searching for talent outside his own house. However, for many, beating Tiger is still a massive deal. And this fact was not lost on JD-II, as he recently revealed.

Last month, the father and son duo were in Orlando, participating in the PNC Championship being held in the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Grande Lakes. The star-studded field comprised team Thomas, the defending champions, team Woods, who were making only their second appearance in the family event, and many more decorated golfers. However, Daly II and his father defeated them all to top the leaderboard with a score of 27-under.

The reserved 18-year-old is, at least from what we know, a polar opposite of his father. However, one thing that he has taken from him is his spectacular golf skills. Daly II is already sending ripples throughout the golf world and recently, he added another feather to his cap, the PNC Championship title. However, sweeter than that was beating Tiger Woods en route to the title.
Participating in the 96th New Year’s Invitational at St. Petersburg Country Club, he revealed, “It was awesome. It was really the first year that we just went out there to enjoy ourselves and have some family fun before the holidays. But now I can look back at it and say it feels pretty damn good to be able to beat Tiger Woods.” He adds on, “I’m going to be bragging about that for a long time!”
