Why Tiger Woods invested in a restaurant?

This might be puzzling to many as to why the former No. 1 and legendary golfer, Tiger Woods, has an $8 million restaurant in Jupiter, Fla. During the interview, the interviewer asked him if they were sitting in a place that had Woods’ name on it and why he chose to do it.

Woods had the best reply, and the reason was quite simple. The only reason he wanted a restaurant in that place because he wanted to be closer to his kids. The very simple reason stated that the distance between the location of his house and his children’s house was too far. There was no good restaurant nearby where he could spend time, and he wanted to avoid driving 25-30 minutes daily.

Woods needed a place to chill

Woods said, “I live just up the road, and my kids are just south. I have to drive 25 or 30 minutes south to get to a nice restaurant. Who wants to do that every day? That’s not a lot of fun. So I said, O.K., let’s put a restaurant here. Let’s do something that’s different and that’s never been done in the area. Let’s create a sports bar, but not so high end that it’s suits and stuffy.”

Woods said that he does not enjoy going to places where a sports coat is necessary. He wanted a comfortable space where he could wear flip-flops and chill. He added, “I hate that. I hate going into a place where you have to wear a sport coat. I can’t stand it. But also comfortable enough where you can wear flip-flops, which I like. That’s how I want it to be, and that’s how I am. I’m just chill.”

The Woods Restaurant

A restaurant run by a pro golfer will obviously attract big names. If you take a walk in “The Woods”, you might come across greats like Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, or Daniel Berger. You notice that the restaurant doesn’t look like it’s his restaurant. There are three sepia-toned photographs of the five-time Green Jacket winner on the wall. It’s hard to even make out if it’s Tiger Woods’ pictures or not. In one, you can only see his legs and shadow; in another, his hands obscured his face; and in the next one, only the golf ball is in focus.

Well, there is a reason for such photographs. The purpose is for one to know who owns “The Woods.” It certainly surprised many people to not see Woods’ face associated a lot with the restaurant. According to Woods, it did not need his face all over the restaurant. He wanted his restaurant to stand out, not because it was owned by him, but because it was that good. Woods was not into the concept of people coming to a restaurant because of the owner, but because of the restaurant’s service and food.
