‘I’m No Mathematician’: People’s Choice Awards Winner Niall Horan Curbs Women’s Golf Cynics With a Powerful Verdict

Golf is among the most loved sports in America. Despite their busy schedules, people always take some time off for golfing, and so do our favorite celebrities. Famous singer-songwriter Niall Horan harbors a special love and admiration for golf.
An avid fan of golf since childhood, the sport is a part of the singer’s Irish culture. And today, other than being a popular singer, he is also an influential golf figure. In a new interview, Niall lent his support to women’s golf.

All his life, Niall has been a big fan and supporter of golf. It has also helped him bond with his father as a young boy. Being vocal about his love for the sport in 2019, Horan told Golfweek, “I’m obviously a golf nut. If I didn’t do music I would have loved to have been a golfer myself. I’ve always been mad into it.”
Horan appears in the December 2023 issue of Bunkered as the cover star, for which he has given a candid interview to the golf magazine. In the interview, he expressed the hope that his association with golf will encourage young girls to participate more in the sport.

Niall says in the interview, “I always say this but, you know, I’ve got 40 million Twitter followers and a few more on Instagram. If my posting about golf here and there makes just one percent of my followers take an interest in golf, well, look, I’m no mathematician, but it’s a lot!” The Irish singer understands the power he has over his fan base and is using it positively to promote golf.

In 2016, Niall Horan founded Modest Golf, a global golf management and marketing company for top golfers of the world. Besides names like Tyrrell Hatton, Ewen Ferguson, and other male golfers, it supports many female golfers. Niall’s company has a clientele base of names like Leona Maguire, Jayden Schaper, Anna Nordqvist, Olivia Cowan, Angel Yin, Pia Babnik, and Stephanie Kyriakou.

The golf connection of Niall Horan
The singer-songwriter rose to prominence as part of the massively famous boy band One Direction. From 2010 to 2015, Horan and the other band members delivered many chartbusters and ruled the hearts of millions of fans. After the band split in 2015, its members went their own way and created equally successful solo careers. As for Niall, he worked on accomplishing his golfing dreams simultaneously while making music.

He has also supported golf initiatives such as the Drive Chip Putt in America to support and encourage the next generation of golfers to break through. He has also worked closely with the R&A as their ambassador. A few months ago, the singer backed their new initiative called ‘Golf.Golf’, which is a new digital platform with the objective of attracting more people to the sport.
