‘I’m Not Very Good at That’: Lindsey Vonn, Who Dated Tiger Woods for 3 Years, Once Revealed Her Biggest Learning From the Golf Legend

Name, fame, trophies, and controversies are all part of being an athlete, along with injuries. Lindsey Vonn, a ski superstar, and Olympic gold medalist faced injuries throughout her career too. The most extensive damage was in December 2013. It was a hard time for Vonn, but someone helped her. That was none other than her ex, golfing great Tiger Woods. 

She revealed the truth during an interview in 2014. The pro golfer’s advice and words of wisdom helped the former world cup winner recover better from her injury. Although, the advice was something that Vonn found very hard, as she was not good at acquiring it.

Pearls of wisdom by Tiger Woods

Former world number one Tiger Woods and Olympic gold winner Lindsey Vonn dated for three years before calling it quits in 2015. However, the former American Alpine skier learned a lot from her ex during their relationship. She revealed a part of her learning during an interview at the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Pensacola, Florida.

In 2013, Vonn met a brutal accident and tore her ACL as she hyper-extended her knee, causing it to lock up. During her recovery, she gave TODAY a look at her hard-working recovery. During the interview, she said that despite working out with ropes, riding a stationary bike, and an underwater treadmill, something else is keeping her motivated. It was advice from the five-time Masters Tournament winner.

Vonn knew the importance of patience in the life of an athlete, and she learned it from the legend himself. Woods once told her that for playing golf, much patience is required. He taught her to stay calm and focus on one thing at a time. And agreeing with this, she explains she is not good at patience even though it is essential. Alpine skier said“I mean, it’s pretty much one of the most important things to have in the sport. And I’m not very good at that.”

In 2013, Vonn suffered a severe super-G crash during her opening race at Schladming, Austria, and was rushed to a local hospital via airlift. Her right knee had a broken tibial plateau, medial collateral, and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. All this resulted in season-ending surgery. 

Vonn lost her consciousness in the Pyrenean principality of Andorra. She was just six gates far from the finish before she got caught in soft snow and leaned in. Her knee locked up as she overextended it.
