The 2022 season saw massive changes in the sport of golf. Though the year may be coming to an end, the developments in the sport keep continuing to adapt. In the latest report, European Tour along with PGA Tour has decided to join hands with the Professional Golf Tour of India(PGTI), extending their relationship chain across the continents.

Over the years, the players at the PGTI, who are mostly Indians, have used the Tour as a stepping stone to get into the Asian Tour. In 2009, the PGTI became a member of the International Federation of PGA Tours.
Despite that, it took the Tour a decade to become part of the Official World Golf Rankings system. All that is going to further enhance from next season onwards for the PGTI.
DP World Tour will have players from PGTI, thanks to PGA Tour
In recent months, the alliance between PGA Tour and the European Tour has only gotten much stronger since the inception of LIV Golf. A few days ago, both Tours announced the expansion of their relationship with the Korea Professional Golfers’ Association.

Nonetheless, earlier today, the Tours further spread their hands within the Asian subcontinent, by adding the PGTI to their list of Tours. The strategic partnership among the Tours will provide the PGTI players and members with much better opportunities.
As per the agreement, starting from the 2022 PGTI season, the leading player on the Tour will earn a DP World Tour membership from the 2023 season onwards. Moreover, the next highest-ranked non-exempt player in the top ten on the rankings will earn a spot in the Final Stage of the European Tour Qualifying School, while a further three players will earn spots in the Second Stage.

Apart from the amenities received by PGTI players, PGA Tour also announced that the leading 10 players on DP World Tour’s Race To Dubai rankings will earn a PGA Tour card from 2024 onwards. Perhaps the massive changes in the American Tour will bring joy to several talented golfers who were overlooked previously.
