Bryson DeChambeau is not having the year he would expect from himself. The 2022 PGA Tour season has been an injury-ridden one for the Mad Scientist. As a result, his injuries did not allow him to compete much on the golf course.

Moreover, the one-time major championship winner recently wrote a series of statements about battling his injuries.

Bryson DeChambeau opens up about his struggle with injuries

The Mad Scientist played the Masters last week with a series of injuries. Chiefly, the 28-year-old revealed that he suffered from a torn left hip labrum and a hairline fracture. According to the American professional, the injuries occurred two years earlier when he was on a quest to gain mammoth distance after he slipped on the concrete and felt something “pop” in his hand last fall.

Moreover, both the injuries were aggravated at the Saudi International. As a result, he could not play golf and made his comeback at the WGC Dell Match Play. However, news broke out yesterday that Bryson will undergo surgery on his hamate bone in the left hand. Brett Falkoff confirmed the news to GolfDigest.

Additionally, on April 15th, the 2020 US Open Champion posted his photo after the surgery and said that the surgery on his left wrist went well. He revealed this through a tweet and another series of statements on his official Twitter account.

DeChambeau also wrote about the time he would make his comeback. He said, “For now, I will be taking the appropriate time needed to rest and recover from this procedure and look forward to competing at the highest level within the next two months”

Moreover, in another statement issued by the Mad Scientist, he stated all the challenges her was facing while playing his last three events. The WGC Dell Match Play, Valero Texas Open, and the Masters. DeChambeau wrote, “Through continued discomfort from the fracture, it has caused me to alter my grip and swing, resulting in my inability to compete at golf’s highest level. This has not been easy physically and mentally for me.” 

DeChambeau’s finish at the Masters

Bryson had a somewhat disappointing 86th Masters last week. He finished the event with an overall score of 12-over-par. As a result, DeChambeau missed the cut at the Masters by a whopping eight strokes. He carded rounds of four-over-par, 76, and eight-over-par, 80 in the first two rounds.

Mad Scientist’s first round saw one birdie and a single bogey on the front nine. As a result, he moved out in level-par, 36. DeChambeau made three bogeys, one birdie, and a double-bogey on the back nine on Thursday.

His round of 80 on Friday included three bogeys on the opening nine holes. In turn, Bryson moved out in three-over-par, 39. DeChambeau made two bogeys, two double-bogeys, and a single birdie to a disappointing finish at Augusta National Golf Club.
