Ahead of the WM Phoenix Open 2023, Rory McIlroy proved why he is the number-one golfer currently. Besides having excellent golfing skills, having the self-confidence to pull off every shot is also important. However, the latest tweet by the PGA Tour is a testament to every excellent golfer’s confidence. The WM Phoenix Open is starting today and will continue till February 12. The CJ Cup winner attended a press conference before the event, and the Tour noted it.

The official handle of the American Tout tweeted a question from the interview: “Question: Do you feel like you’re the best player in the world right now? “A one-word answer from the pro golfer followed it. The golfer replied, “Yes.” The picture with the tweet was as strong as his answer.

McIlroy has come a long way. And it was great to see that he has much confidence in himself. Undoubtedly he has been working hard, and his past performances have been the proof.

Did the golf world challenge Rory McIlroy?

Right after the tweet by PGA Tour, McIlroy’s fans and golf lovers bombarded the comment section. While some appreciated the confidence, others threw an open challenge toward him. They said, “There are 4 majors this year that will tell if that is true or not.” And many other comments with the same gist followed. Therefore, it is safe to say that fans want him to prove himself by winning masters. Else, we all know what will happen.

If you are number one, you must constantly prove why you reached there. However, PGA Tour posted another tweet highlighting a statement by the world’s number two golfer Scottie Scheffler. With 8.053 average points, he said, “I like being number 1 in the world. I don’t like being number 2.” The 2022 Masters winner is all set to claim the number one golfer position.

However, McIlroy stated why he feels he should be number one during the interview. Explaining the reason, he said, “I’m playing well. I feel like consistency-wise, I’ve been as good as I have been ever in my career.” Only time will tell if he will remain number one or not. The WM Phoenix Open will give an idea of where the pro golfers will land. But for now, the Irish golfer is busy with the upcoming Netflix golf series.
