Tiger Woods has once again publicly disclosed his desire to play in The Open while also admitting he won’t be playing at The Country Village for the U.S. Open due to his injury. However, he has shared a tweet providing his fans with the latest update on his current condition.

Woods had previously mentioned that he will be participating in the 150th edition of The Open. He has also committed to play in the JP McManus Pro-Am Tournament at Adare Manor in Ireland.

Apart from the good news, the 46-year-old also shared that he won’t be participating in U.S. Open. He said, “I previously informed the USGA that I will not be competing in the U.S. Open as my body needs more time to get stronger for major championship golf.”

Tiger Woods had to withdraw from the 2022 PGA Championship in May due to soreness in his right leg. This was his first withdrawal from a Major since the 1995 US Open, during which he was still an amateur.

The 15 times Major Champion has yet to recover from the injury he sustained at the Southern Hills Championship Court. However, Woods has recovered from a lot worse, so we can hope to see him play golf in Great Britain.

Tiger Woods’ struggles with injury

Tiger Woods has struggled quite often with injuries in his career. His real trouble with injuries began in 2007 when he ruptured his ACL during the British Open, but he still managed to win five of his final six tournaments to close the season.

Woods had similar troubles during the 2008 U.S. Open, where he damaged his left tibia and had severe pain in his left knee. However, he battled through the pain to win the Major. Prior to the 2022 season, Woods was involved in a car crash that left him on crutches. His participation for the 2022 season was in doubt, but he did manage to recover to return to play at Augusta National for the Masters.
