The sad news is that Rosalind Jacobs is not free from her illness. She was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer before she turned 40. This aggressive subtype of breast cancer accounts for approximately 10–15% of all cases of the disease. Family and friends have come together in support of Rosalind as she bravely undergoes a strenuous 16-week course of severe chemotherapy followed by radiation and surgery.
Rosalind talked about her personal experience and how her illness was discovered as a result of a humorous event with her 4-year-old son.

“I was quite injured so, a couple of days later, our amazing nurse practitioner Amanda suggested that I go for an ultrasound,” Rosalind said. “The doctor came in to say to me that the left breast was perfect, 100 percent, but they had found something in the right breast. He said it was still small at the time and we should just keep an eye on it and I should come back in six months.”
She also added a message to other girls, “My message to all the young ladies is don’t wait until you are 40. Go and have the ultrasound, or have the mammogram. We have to be our own advocates when it comes to our health and, at the end of the day, it’s just not worth taking the risk to wait.”
