Is LIV Golf’s Phil Mickelson Playing in the 2023 Masters?

Phil Mickelson maybe 52 years of age, but he still carries the aura that he’s had for the past three decades. The legendary golfer has always displayed his passion to win as he progresses to the final phase of his illustrious career. However, despite achieving everything in the sport, Lefty still desires to win more. With that being said, will Mickelson be competing at the upcoming Masters?

Phil came under massive public scrutiny for his $200 million move to LIV Golf. However, a year later, the golfer has moved on with his life and looks to enjoy his new phase on the Saudi-funded Tour. Nonetheless, the lucrative Tour defectors were suspended from competing in the PGA Tour. As the first Major of the season approaches, will the fans witness Lefty in it?

Is Phil Mickelson competing at the Masters next month?

Though initially, they were many speculations of a ban on the breakaway Tour defectors from competing in Majors, the fans were given a clear statement at the end of last year. The Augusta National Golf Club confirmed to allow the eligible LIV Golf players to compete in the Masters. Mickelson does fall in the eligibility criteria as he had won the Masters thrice in 2004, 2006, and 2010.

The winner of the Green Jacket receives a lifetime invitation to the Major at Augusta National. Nonetheless, Phil hasn’t confirmed his participation yet. Moreover, Lefty missed last year’s Masters for the first time in 28 years. Though the 52-year-old was surrounded by controversy last year, he looks to be in a much better environment this season.

Phil Mickelson also looked in great shape during the recent LIV Golf Tucson event. As he missed playing the legendary golf course last year, Lefty might wish to return to Augusta National next month. Regardless of his decision, Phil will undoubtedly receive an invitation from the organizers, thanks to his lifetime invitation.
