What a feeling it is to witness all past champions of the Masters in the Green Jacket together. With all the hype for the event, the Tuesday dinners are what make the heart melt. The 2025 dinner is a celebration of Scottie Scheffler‘s dominant 4-stroke victory last year at the Masters. 32 living past champions attended the celebration, and The Masters official account also posted an annual photo.

In the post, Scheffler was in the front center with Fred Ridley, Augusta National Golf Club chairman, on his left and Ben Crenshaw, two-time Masters winner, on his right. With most of the top names present in the photo, what caught the attention was Tiger Woods‘s absence.
The five-time Masters winner has attended all champion dinners for which he was eligible, except the 2021. Which he skipped because he was recovering from a near-fatal accident. For the 2025 annual Masters Champion Dinner, Woods has a similar reason (on medical grounds).

Woods had his Achilles tendon surgery. He ruptured his left Achilles while training for the Masters at home last month. This is the reason he’s not competing in the Masters and missed the Champions dinner. This year is the fifth time Woods has withdrawn from the player’s roster since his debut in 1995. He last withdrew from the event in 2021.

The Champion Dinner is a historic tradition that began in 1952 when Ben Hogan invited previous winners to join him for dinner. But it is unusual to see golfers missing the dinner. Last season, Angel Cabrera and Sany Lyle missed the dinner. Well, this year, too, only 32 players attended the dinner out of the 35 living winners of the Masters.

Who else missed the 2025 Masters’ Champion Dinner?
After 1999, this is the fourth time when the stag supper has the champions seated on a rectangular table. Away from the change, what raised eyebrows are the missing champions. Other than Woods, two other players have also skipped dinner.

Vijay Singh, the 2000 Masters champion, has withdrawn from the field with an undisclosed injury. The golfer, who was scheduled for his 32nd start this year, shared the update just days before the Masters’ week. Along with him, Sandy Lyle has also chosen to skip dinner for the second time in a row. Lyle, who has 42 appearances, was absent last year due to his wife’s inner-ear issue, which has restricted her from traveling. Following that, in 2025 too, the golfer preferred to stay with her wife in Scotland.
Despite the three absent from the dinner, the current fan favorites still covered the center stage. Even for this season, he is the betting favorite. But with his ongoing ups and downs in performance, can he repeat the feat? What are your thoughts on it? Share with us in the comments below.
