Tiger Woods is probably one of the most famous professionals of all time. He is in the limelight once again, off the course in the Players Impact Program fiasco. Earlier, He was runner-up to Phil Mickelson in the list. However, there is a rumor that Tiger is now the winner of PIP. Is Tiger really winning the $8 million?

Is Tiger Woods eligible to win the PIP?

Tiger has not played an official PGA Tour event since the 2020 Masters. However, he made his appearance at the 2021 PNC Championship, which is the only appearance in 2021, after he suffered an injury at the start of February. But, he managed to win the PIP, according to the release by PGA Tour on Wednesday.

However, earlier had Phil tweeted that he has won the inaugural Players Impact Program. But according to the release by the PGA Tour, Woods is the winner of the inaugural Players Impact Program. But is Tiger really eligible to win the $8 million?

There is one eligibility criteria that Woods has to fulfill in order to take the $8 million. He has to play a PGA Tour event, that Woods has not played in the last four years. As a result, he may not be eligible to win the Players Impact Program sum. Surprisingly, Phil was a part of the field at the start of the 2020 season at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

He made his trip to Kapalua in order to fulfill this criterion. He made his trip back to the Sentry Tournament of Champions after 21 years. Well, we will have to wait and see if Tiger will have to fulfill this criterion or will be given an exemption.

How are the results for Players Impact Program compiled?

The winner of the PIP is based on five criteria. The ratings on Nielsen, Meltwater Mentions, Google searches, MVP Index, and Q-rating are based on a professional’s appeal as well as, his popularity on social media. Phil finished second on the list with a sum of $6 million. And Rory McIlroy was at the third position with a sum of $3,500,000.
