The 3X PGA Tour winner, Wyndham Clark has won only 1 Major in his professional career – the 2023 US Open, which is among the several criteria that qualify a player for the PGA Championship. He defeated Rory McIlroy by 1 stroke with a 10-under 270 and became one of the past five champions of the aforementioned Major. He was vying for a second feather on his hat this year but missed the cut at the Masters. And now seemingly, the PGA Championship is going to be his second shot at winning.

He has been qualified based on the other three criteria of the second Major of the season. Ranked 3rd on the OWGR list, Wyndham Clark, along with Max Homa, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, and others, also qualified on the criteria of playing members of the last-named U.S. and European Ryder Cup teams (2023) who are ranked on the Top 100 of the OWGR list as of this month.

Having won the second signature event of the 2024 PGA Tour in February, he is also listed in the names of the players who have won PGA Tour co-sponsored or approved tournaments officially from the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge till the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship along with Viktor Hovland, Nick Taylor, and many more. Although having qualified is in itself the first step that he has already taken to acquire another Major win, with such a challenging field, the feat of victory will not be easy for Clark. And he’s not the only one to look out for!

Top-3 players to look out for at the PGA Championship

With 4 victories this season, Scottie Scheffler is undoubtedly the current favorite, heading to take away the second Major win this year. Nonetheless, as the OWGR No. 1, player gets back from his paternity leave, there are a few other players to look out for at the PGA Championship. Brooks Koepka, the 4X LIV title winner is all set to match his pace with Phil Mickelson, as he goes ahead for the sixth Major win in his professional career, after the 2023 PGA Championship.

Following him is the 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm, who joined the 2024 season as a LIV Golfer. He has failed to acquire any title since the shift, dropping down to T45 at the year’s first men’s Major, with 9-over 297. The PGA Championship will be his chance for redemption and a great first win being part of the breakaway league. Apart from them, there are tough contenders like Ludvig Aberg who bagged the runner-up position at the Masters, just 4 strokes away from Scottie Scheffler, and Max Homa, who tied for the third position with Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood.

The PGA Championship 2024 is indeed going to be a tough field, with several predictions. But the question is, who will take away the trophy ultimately? Stay tuned to find out!
