‘It Doesn’t Feel Great’: Bryson DeChambeau Opens Up on the Severity of His Injury

It is easy to set goals but hard to achieve them. When Bryson DeChambeau set his goal to become the best golfer in the world, he had to compromise on his health. Read what happened to Bryson at the Saudi International golf event that the golfer had to withdraw from the tournament. 

The 2022 Saudi International tournament started on February 3rd. Everything was going well until Bryson showed difficulties in walking after one round. He refused to talk to the media right after the round. Later, an official statement, mentioned that the 28-year-old had withdrawn from the tournament.

What happened to Bryson DeChambeau? 

The official statement from DeChambeau mentioned that he is withdrawing from the tournament because of a left hand and hip injury. The severity of the injury is still not known. However, it seems to be severe, considering how he withdrew from two of the three tournaments of the year.

He withdrew from the Sony Open early this year, just two days of participation. Meanwhile, he struggled to make a cut at the Farmers Insurance Open. He was visibly uncomfortable after every shot and was holding his wrist and hip several times.

Although it is still unknown what may have caused the injury, many speculated that his swing speed might be the reason for it. In a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Bryson mentioned that his wrist was not in good condition. He said, “It’s not a joint, it’s not anything. But it doesn’t feel great.” Bryson is known for his long drives, and the wrist problem might be the reason.

The long drives might be the cause of his hip problems as well. He explained in the video that his core was not well since he had been hard on his golf swings. DeChambeau added that he had learned how to cope with it over the past years.
