There are thousands of instances when McIlroy has won and left the course happily, however this one instance is really special and memorable for him.

Rory McIlroy’s memorable experience at Augusta National

Rory McIlroy shot a bogey-free 64 that included six birdies and an eagle, making it one of the finest rounds in both Masters and Major history on April 10th last year. Moreover, one of the most memorable moments of 2022 was of McIlroy holing a very impossible bunker shot at Augusta National’s 72nd hole. McIlroy has finally spoken about the viral shot.

While talking about the incident, McIlroy stated it as his best finish at The Masters, and shooting 64 on the final round (the lowest final round in Masters’ history) as an unforgettable experience. According to Golf Monthly, McIlroy said, “So it might have seemed a little victory to some – but it was a huge victory to me. That was the first time I’d ever left Augusta happy. Sure, I’d done well there before – I’d had something like six top-10s in the previous eight years – but that was the first time I’d left there with a big smile on my face. And with my history at Augusta, that was really notable for me.”

McIlroy has already enjoyed great success in his career having won four major championships and other numerous tournaments. There are countless instances when McIlroy has left the course happily. However, this one experience at the Augusta National Golf Club is certainly unforgettable for him.

The four-time Major champion got 2023 off to a strong start with a victory in Dubai. In 2023, McIlroy’s stellar performance has mainly persisted. In addition to his victory in Dubai, he also took third place in the WGC-Match Play last week at Austin Country Club and tied for second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour at Bay Hill.
