Cameron Smith concerned about playing at a tournament dear to his heart

World No. 2 and Open champion, Cameron Smith, recently claimed his first LIV Golf title in Chicago. Smith has been one of the most talented players on the PGA Tour in the past and has given a few record-breaking performances too. However, after joining the LIV Golf league, his PGA Tour membership is currently suspended. And according to the rules, no LIV Golf players will be allowed to participate in any upcoming major championships.

Hence, the golfer who recently won the 150th Open at St. Andrews is currently worried about not being able to play in the upcoming major championships. “I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to get back there,” Smith said“It’s a place I love, and I’ve got a pretty good record around there, too. So it would be pretty heartbreaking if I couldn’t get back there.”

Why did Smith join the LIV Golf league?

Unlike some other golfers who switched to LIV Golf for money, Smith had his unique reasons. The golf professional said“The biggest thing for me joining is (LIV’s) schedule is really appealing,”. According to the player, he will be able to spend more time in Australia with his family due to the shorter game schedules.

Smith said that he had been living in the US for more than seven years. And the fact that he wasn’t able to attend family events including birthdays and weddings was “tough” for him. But since the league will not continue organizing tournaments for three months after the finale in Miami, the golfer will probably have plenty of time to spend with his family.
