The new tour had a lot of recreational activities for the fans pouring into the course to watch the spectacular inaugural event. Apart from activities, the food at the event was rib-smacking and strangely similar to that of the first major championship event of the year, the Masters Tournament. Moreover, an image of the famous Pimento Cheese sandwich being served at the LIV Golf event, a highlight of the Masters is getting viral all over the internet.
Furthermore, the action of selling the famous pimento cheese sandwich with fries at the opening event seems like the rival tour is taking a dig at the Masters. At the same time, it is probably trying to replicate all the famous things from the event at Augusta National Golf Club. Moreover, the image of the famous sandwich at the Centurion Club broke out on Twitter. No Laying Up tweeted the picture with a caption saying, “One more poke at @TheMasters: LIV is selling pimento cheese sandwiches.”

Not to forget, the players like Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson teed up at the first event. However, Charl Schwartzel emerged as the first winner of the new tour. He ended the event with an overall score of seven-under-par. As a result, the South African professional won by one shot after the final round. His fellow countryman, Hennie Du Plessis, finished as the runner-up to Schwartzel. Du Plessis ended the event with an overall score of six-under-par. As a result, he had to settle for a solo second position finish on the leaderboard.
How did the golf world react to LIV Golf poking at the Masters?
As the tweet about LIV selling the famous sandwich came to light, the golf Twitter turned absurd. Golf fans from around the globe started to react to the Pimento Cheese sandwich image. Most fans had mixed reactions to the news, and some condemned the move. At the same time, other fan reactions were fun to look at, and other fans thought it was getting serious between the Saudi-backed golf league and the rest of the tours and major events.
