‘It’s Ridiculous’: Golf World Left Disappointed Over Latest Annika Sorenstam News

The 2022 U.S. Women’s Open is all set to begin today. Moreover, there are plenty of prominent names on the field since this is a major championship event. We will be witnessing golfers like Nelly Korda, Ko Jin-young, Annika Sorenstam, Lexi Thompson, etc. Furthermore, fans are excited to watch Sorenstam return to playing competitive golf after a long time this week. 

The 51-year-old golfer has won the U.S. Women’s Open thrice in her career so far. However, there is an issue for which the fans are furious over the USGA. According to the senior golf writer Beth Ann Nichols, there is no live coverage or streaming of the group for the first round.

She wrote“You also need to know that Annika tees off at 8:50 am. EDT tomorrow, alongside Swedish amateur Ingrid Lindblad, ranked No.2 in the world, and former USWO champ So Yeon Ryu. No live TV or streaming for her group, though, sadly.”

Furthermore, legendary women’s golfer Annika Sorenstam is competing in her 16th U.S. Women’s Open, the first since 2008. However, there might be a telecast of Sorenstam’s second round, since it starts late in the afternoon on Friday during the broadcasting hours.

Therefore, fans won’t be able to watch the 51-year-old’s round on Thursday, and the disappointment of not watching Sorenstam has made many fans furious. Here’s how the fans reacted after the news broke out earlier today.

This year the total purse for the field is $10 million, while the winner will receive around $1.5 million. Therefore, this is the highest prize purse in women’s golf so far.

Additionally, the featured groups for Friday remain the same, while only the tee-off times will be altered.
