The sudden demise of Grayson Murray left the golf community in grief. Although not much information was revealed about the incident initially, his family confirmed that he died by suicide. As the final round of the Charles Schwab Challenge concluded, although Davis Riley came out victorious, he shared how too had been struggling through a lot. He almost ended his career, but somehow managed to grow through it.

Davis Riley got married to the love of his life in 2022, after dating her for five years. The couple have been very happy and he receives immense support from her, as she flies down with him to various events on the PGA Tour. Despite having supportive people like his coach Jeff Smith on the team and his wife, the ‘golf part’ was not working out very well for him.

“I’ll be honest, I’ve struggled with, like, just the golf part. My life’s great,” Riley stated. After winning the Zurich Classic with Nick Hardy last year, he missed four back-to-back cuts, and to add to the misery, in the season of seven missed cuts in 14 starts, he even failed to put himself on the list of Top 25 except for the Texas Children’s Houston Open in March this year (T14).

However, it was the supportive people that he had in his life that helped him through the tough phase, which finally led to him coming out victorious. “I was in a pretty low spot the start of the season, end of last year a little bit, and, yeah, I’m just proud of the way that my team put all their energy and effort into me and I felt like I put some good work in and I’m just super grateful for the people around me that pushed me through that hard time,” said the champion.

Davis Riley’s sister is battling a tumor

Davis Riley’s older sister, Caroline reportedly got seizures on May 22 in New York, just a few days ahead of the championship at the Colonial Country Golf Club. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and the doctors diagnosed her with a tumor, which had to be operated on as soon as possible.
