Tiger Woods has been dominating the headlines since his recent DUI arrest in Florida. But amid all the debates and scrutiny, Tiger Woods has found support from one of golf’s most respected voices. The 50-year-old was taken into custody on March 27 after a two-vehicle crash in Jupiter Island. Following the crash, authorities determined he was medically impaired, as he registered a 0.000 on a breathalyzer test but refused the urine test. While the conversation around him has been swirling, Jack Nicklaus has defended Woods.

“Sometimes you get, you know, too far down the line and you just need somebody to help you. I think he probably needs some help. And we all want to help him. We’re all on his side,” stated Nicklaus.

PB Post further revealed that the 86-year-old legend added, “Obviously I feel bad for Tiger. I like Tiger. I don’t just like him, I like him a lot. He’s been taking painkillers for a long time and I don’t know how much pain he’s in because I just don’t know. But I don’t think he’d be taking them if he didn’t need them.”

After getting arrested, Woods was released on bail. He now faces additional charges, including property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Such an incident unfolded at a delicate time in Woods’ career. He has been fighting against several injuries and back-to-back surgeries. After his lumbar disc replacement surgery in October 2025, he finally made a comeback at TGL and had only recently hinted at a possible return for the Masters. 

While no injuries were reported from the crash, the circumstances surrounding his condition have sparked widespread speculation, particularly regarding potential substance use. However, Nicklaus believes that if Woods has been relying on painkillers, it is likely due to genuine physical need rather than misuse.

Donald Trump might be empathizing with Tiger Woods following his DUI arrest. But for people like Sir Nick Faldo, the issue of drinking under the influence is quite a grave one. At the moment, Woods is not at all in a good state of mind. Currently stepping away from competitive golf, he will be receiving treatment in rehabilitation. 

Speaking about Woods’ condition, Faldo pointed out that he felt ‘sorry’ for him. According to Faldo, the golfing legend has been suffering in constant pain. However, Faldo did not extend sympathy as he was of the opinion that all of Woods’ pain had been ‘self-inflicted.’

“The bottom line is that I really think that this is a serious issue and something should be done that is a little bit more than waving him off to a tropical island and saying ‘welcome back’ in three or four months or whatever it might be,” said Woods. 

Criticizing him further, Faldo pointed out how there are a couple of narratives going around Woods’ incident at the moment. While one part says that Woods must be given care and compassion. On the contrary, the other half is of the opinion that the incident is serious and Woods must be dealt with strictly. Thus, with things looking complicated, it now remains to be seen what’s next.
