The Masters tournament has various stories associated with the professionals competing at the event. Jack Nicklaus is among the professional who has multiple fond memories of the major championship. A few years back, the 18-time major championship winner spoke about one of the memories of the event which he shared with Bobby Jones.

The 73-time PGA Tour winner back in 2016 spoke about the Masters tradition Jones used to follow with Nicklaus. The 82-year-old golf legend spoke about a locker room tradition that the great Bobby Jones followed when Nicklaus was playing at the Augusta National Golf Club.

Jack revealed the tradition that Jones followed in an interview on ‘In-Depth with Graham Bensinger’. The World Golf Hall of Fame member said, “So I was 19 years old, I went down to Augusta. And in my locker was a little note and said Jack Welcome to the masters. Welcome to Augustus says I’d like to invite you and your father to come down to my cabin and talk to me, which we did.”

He added, “So every year that little note was in my locker, and I went down there and every year we would have a great conversation. He told me a lot of his little things that happened to him and things that made him a better player. And why this, why that, and so forth. He took a great interest in me. And I was very flattered by that. And I And it couldn’t have been nicer.”

Moreover, Jack’s words prove the strong bond that him and Bobby Jones. His words also prove the admiration that the golf legend had for Nicklaus’s golf game.

Who won the 2022 Masters?

The 2022 Masters marked yet another first-time winner of the major championship event. Scottie Scheffler won the event at Augusta National with an overall score of 10-under-par. As a result, he won the event with a comfortable three-shot cushion after the final round on Sunday. He won his maiden major championship event with his win. Scottie carded a final round of one-under-par, 71.

His final round of 71 included two birdies, and the rest all pars on the opening nine holes. In turn, he moved out in two-under-par, 34. Scheffler made two birdies, one bogey, and a double-bogey on the back to an enthralling finish to the first major championship event of the calendar year.
