“I have never put anything in the Claret Jug,” said Jack“I know it’s the Claret Jug, but I always thought it was disrespectful to be drinking out of it. I’ve seen guys that have done it in the future, in the past, but I always respected it. They cleaned it out before I got there, and I didn’t want to dirty it up,” revealed Nicklaus.

However, golfers like Tiger Woods, and many others, have sort of made a tradition of drinking from the Claret Jug after winning. But Nicklaus doesn’t believe in doing such a thing as he wants to maintain the respect and dignity of the trophy.
