Brooks Koepka is a complex character to study. The five-time major winner does things that confuse people, and keep them on their toes. His recent encounter with Bryson DeChambeau establishes this strongly.

In his recent interaction with pro boxer Jake Paul, Koepka had spoken about his interest in taking up a fight with DeChambeau. The way the discussion went, it seemed like a fight would be scheduled anytime soon. The recent encounter between the two LIV golfers, though, has left fans confused.

The BS connection between BD and BK

In the podcast BS w/ Jake Paul, Brooks Koepka spoke about his plan to diversify his activities. When Paul asked about Koepka’s willingness to debut in boxing, Koepka seemed interested. However, he insisted he would like to fight only against his LIV peer, Bryson DeChambeau.

Now, in their recent tweet, Flushing It shared a video and wrote “Brooks just tried to get Bryson to have a drink from the hospitality. These 2 look like mates now, can’t see them fighting any time soon! 🤣”

The video showed DeChambeau and Koepka interacting, probably during DeChambeau’s practice session. Koepka was in the stands with viewers having drinks and relaxing. DeChambeau was on the ground with his caddie, and he walked up to Koepka for a handshake,

As DeChambeau walks back, he hears Koepka say something and walks back to him to receive the drink in his hand. DeChambeau carries the drink toward his caddy and asks him something. Later, he smiles and returns the drink to Koepka.

The tweet points out how the friendly dynamic between the two shows very little space for rivalry or enmity. A comment under the tweet in turn reminded us of the past. “Post the clip of him heckling bryson after he hits his shot lmao” said the comment, to which Flushing It replied, “Done 🤣”

Although the fighting proposition was discussed properly in the recent podcast, the idea sparked a year back.

The inception of Bryson DeCheambeau and Brooks Koepka Duel

In 2021, post the peak of their rivalry, DeChambeau and Koepka answered a question about a potential boxing match between the two. Koepka stated that if the pay was good, he would get in the ring. The Scientist agreed for the same

In the recent podcast, when Jake Paul asked if the two would actually get in a fight, Koepka again brought up the matter of money. He asked Paul if he would promote the fight. Paul responded he would actually put up a million-dollar purse if the event were to happen.

Whether the rivalry has faded, and whether it was real to even begin with, is of little relevance to the golf world. The fans just want entertainment, and the duo are probably not going to disappoint on that front.

For someone who has avidly followed sports even before I joined Essentially Sports, my transition to a golf writer has been immensely exciting. The sport has a certain calmness to it that attracts me. Much like every golf enthusiast. I, too, have many favorites in the golf world. Max Homa's humor makes me laugh, Rory McIlroy's intensity makes me curious, while Celine Boutier's awkwardness helps me relate more to these athletes and the sport, and Nelly Korda's smile just always mesmerizes me! Hence, diving in depth into all their lives and more is more than a joyous experience.
