Retirement hasn’t slowed Jason Kelce down one bit—he’s just traded the trenches for tee boxes. The longtime Philadelphia Eagles center, known for bulldozing defenders and podcasting with his brother Travis Kelce, is now trying to conquer the game of golf, competing in the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe. After finishing 87th out of 89 in his 2024 debut with minus-51 points, he returned in 2025, signaling his growing passion for the game despite early struggles. In true Kelce fashion, though, he’s embracing the grind and even turning to the internet for help.
In a Reddit post, further shared on X by NUCLR GOLF, that immediately caught the attention of golf fans and pros alike, Kelce humbly reached out for advice: “Jason Kelce here. Now that I’ve hung up the cleats, I’m trying to get serious about my golf game. I’ve uploaded 6 different angles of my swing from a session yesterday. Looking for any tips you can give me—especially on my backswing and follow-through. Been working with a local pro in Philly, but figured I’d get some crowd-sourced wisdom too. Thanks in advance.” That kind of honesty and self-awareness is why Philly loves the guy. But it also caught the eye of PGA Tour veteran Michael Kim, who offered a candid (but kind) breakdown of Kelce’s swing.
“Two things,” Kim replied. “One, I see a slight reverse C if anything. I’d like to see less left side bend on the backswing and Jason also gets over the top in transition but that’s also in part because of too much side bend in the backswing. So less side bend then get the club under the plane.” Translation? Kelce’s powerful frame might be giving him a little too much upper-body tilt on the backswing, leading to a steep and aggressive move on the downswing—classic over-the-top. Still, Kim was quick to give credit where it was due. “Overall pretty good action,” he added.

For someone who spent 13 years as one of the most technically sound centers in the NFL, Kelce clearly has the discipline to work out the kinks. The internet—especially the golf world on Reddit—welcomed his vulnerability with open arms, offering everything from drills to equipment tweaks. And Kim knows what he’s talking about. The 30-year-old golfer’s advice came not long after his own appearance at the RBC Heritage, where he finished T54 at -3 for the week. A standout at Cal, Michael S. Kim won the 2013 Haskins Award as the nation’s top collegiate player. He captured his first PGA Tour victory at the 2018 John Deere Classic with a dominant 27-under-par performance and has since remained a respected figure on Tour. As of 2025, Kim has been grinding his way back into form, making cuts and staying competitive, with a savvy eye for swing mechanics and a reputation for thoughtful commentary.
With his trademark humility and blue-collar work ethic, Kelce’s journey from Super Bowl champ to aspiring scratch golfer is already proving just as entertaining as his football career. And with pros like Michael Kim weighing in, he’s got the right team in his corner. Let’s just say, if Kelce can anchor a Super Bowl offensive line, he can definitely fix a backswing.

After a steady T54 finish at the 2025 RBC Heritage, Michael Kim is gearing up for his next PGA Tour start at the upcoming Truist Championship, kicking off May 5. It’s a signature event—and a big opportunity—for the Cal alum, who’s quietly piecing together one of his best seasons in years.

Kim skipped both the Zurich Classic and THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, choosing instead to recharge following a demanding early stretch that included a T2 at the WM Phoenix Open, a 4th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and a T27 at the Masters. His decision to rest could prove strategic, especially with a stacked field expected at the Truist.
Currently ranked 18th in the FedExCup standings, Kim has found a groove in 2025. Although his first and last PGA Tour victory was at the 2018 John Deere Classic, his consistent ball-striking and measured pace have helped him stay in contention at tough setups, and he’s no longer flying under the radar. With another big stage just days away, Kim enters the Truist Championship looking to solidify his place among the Tour’s top performers this season. If his form holds, don’t be surprised to see the former John Deere Classic champ add another deep run to his 2025 campaign. This may just be Michael Kim’s comeback year.
