The PGA Tour seems to be coming back on its feet! It is a no-brainer that the traditional league needs help. It was losing players left and right to LIV Golf, with sponsors backing away too. As it turns out, every critic had one person to blame: PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan.

But it looks like the tides are turning in his favor with the $3 billion investment by the SSG in the Tour. However, some pros still have some woes against him in their hearts. After many golfers talked openly about his and the Tour’s mismanagement, one more pro recently was brutally honest about Monahan and his policies.

PGA Tour Pro deems Jay Monahan is lacking one important skill

In an interview with Golf Weekly, the 4x PGA Tour winner was asked if he would want Monahan to remain as the Tour Commissioner amidst merger talks with PIF. At first, the PGAT pro tried to avoid the question by beating around the bush. He called it a tough question and claimed he has never headed a Fortune 500 company nor could pick a leader.

But he soon opened up, claiming, “I thought he’s always done what he’s thought was best for the PGA Tour, but I know he’s made lots of mistakes. I think the No. 1 mistake on the PGA Tour is communication. They always, always, always mess up the communication, in my opinion.”

Jay Monahan’s $3B Move Behind LIV’s Back Was a Must: Recent Updates Shed Major Concerns

With this brutally honest opinion, Kisner openly revealed Jay Monahan and Co.’s lack of communication with the PGA Tour pros. Kisner, pointing out communication as the problem, reiterates Viktor Hovland’s “transparency” comment. The Norwegian star talked about how merger things were not handled in a good way. And, eventually, it seems to come down to communication being a problem only amongst the authorities and the golfers. The four-time American Tour winner even had some skeptical views about the recent SSG investment.

The PGA Tour pro also believes the SSG deal is just for show

Talking about the recent deal with SSG, Kisner believes the traditional league will never get the full amount. “They’re never going to get $3 billion. I think they’re going to get one and a half.”

Furthermore, he believes that the major chunk of this halved investment, exactly $900 million, will go to the ‘smart guys’. These people will take the money and find ways to increase the value of the PGA Tour and Jay Monahan.

By doing so, they will try to land a better negotiating spot from the PIF. However, Kisner believes ultimately the sport of golf will prevail, and “all of us will be back playing golf together.”

By stating these dreamy scenarios, the PGA Tour pro has said what was in the heart of many golf fans, to watch top talent compete together. However, these are his views and can be far from reality, depending on which way the PGA Tour-PIF merger leads.
