Jena Sims recently shared a health update about her 7-month-old. It was week three of Crew Koepka wearing a protective cushion helmet. The helmet helps in positioning the Koepka Jr.’s head. As is known, the son of a 5-time major champion was born as prematurely; he arrived 7 weeks earlier than predicted after Sims went through an emergency C-section. As a result, Crew had to spend the initial few days in the NICU.

The NICU stay might have caused a Flat Head Syndrome as babies are mostly lying on their backs, coupled with torticollis, and the helmet was deemed necessary. Wryneck and Flat Head Syndrome do not cause any serious complications. Sims shared a video on her TikTok and shared that Crew Koepka’s head was becoming rounder in shape. The mama adorned the white helmet with Brooks Koepka‘s team name, Smash GC, as she beamed with pride because of Crew’s progress.

Sims said that she added the name because Koepka’s team won the LIV Golf Las Vegas, and it was a way of celebrating the victory. The video also highlighted a few cute moments Koepka shared with him. The two cuddled with each other as the father showered Crew Koepka with much love and kisses.

The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles reports that around 16% of babies in the United States are born with a deformity of the skull called congenital torticollis. Torticollis, or wryneck, is a condition in which a baby’s neck muscle is stuck and moves the neck in one direction. The premature babies are at a higher risk of developing torticollis as their necks are still underdeveloped and they sit for prolonged hours in the NICU. Among the 16%, is Brooksie’s son.

Crew Koepka has been on the way to becoming a healthy baby, as at first there were some complications that he endured. One such was the wryneck, and another related to his hip mobility, which is also common in babies born prematurely.

It occurs when the thigh bone joining the pelvis does not fit together correctly. The issue can cause the hip to be unstable, cause pain, and cause limping while walking. The harness allows the joint with the pelvis bone to be stable while simultaneously allowing the babies to move their legs freely. Sims shared the video about Crew Koepka taking the first stretch as the harness was removed.
