Meeting Tiger Woods may be on the bucket list of every professional golfer. However, for the Hall of Famer to know you, may well be beyond imagination. In 2017, Jessica Korda got the opportunity to meet the 15-time Major winner. Much to her surprise, Woods knew her by name and also was aware of her season-long bet with her sister Nelly Korda.

Jessica and Nelly may perhaps be the best golf sibling duo in the world currently. However, years before their fame and feats in the sport, the Korda sisters were eager to find glory. During one such outing at Medalist Golf Club, Jessica Korda ran into Tiger and was ecstatic by how much Woods knew about the sisters.

I geeked out so hard when I saw him after the season ended”, said the 29-year-old. She then discussed how a question from Tiger Woods left her shell-shocked. According to Jessica Korda, Tiger asked her, “So, who won the bet between you two?” A surprised Korda replied, “You talking to me?

The PGA Tour pro responded by saying ‘Yeah’, to which Jessica answered,  “I did. I won”. In 2017, the Korda sisters marked the beginning of a season-long bet that would conclude at the end of each season. As per the bet, whichever sister finishes above in the rankings at the end of the season, wins a handbag of her choice from the lower-ranked sister.

Since Jessica Korda finished above her younger sister in 2017, she earned a pricey handbag from Nelly. Though the elder Korda must have been happy with her win, she was left embarrassed while speaking about the bet victory with Tiger Woods. “This is awkward”, said Jessica when she revealed the prize of the wager to the 15-time Major winner.

Despite the awkward encounter, the conversation with the golfing legend did put the LPGA star over the moon. Jessica immediately dialed her sister to share the exciting news of Woods knowing them.

Tiger is the golfing hero for the Korda sisters

After meeting with the 82-time PGA Tour winner, Jessica called Nelly Korda to share her experience. “I called Nelly. I was like, Tiger knows who we are. So like you geek out totally. It’s really, really cool because this is your golfing hero”, said the elder Korda.

She further disclosed how watching Tiger Woods play golf on TV is a completely different feeling. “I can’t even describe it”, the LPGA star added. In the end, Jessica Korda had further wise words for her golfing idol and also claimed to be his kids.

The 29-year-old said, “We’re Tiger’s kids basically. We’ve watched him play. We watched him hit those shots. Like he is our idol.” Perhaps, Woods has been the idol for many. Whether it’s the PGA Tour or the LPGA, the reach of the 15-time Major winner goes beyond the boundary of the sport.
