The golf world can’t wait for the end of September. With each passing day, the anticipation for the upcoming Ryder Cup is getting higher and higher. Now that we know who is on the US and European teams, the fierce competition between the two teams is up for sure at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome.

The DP World Tour’s Italian Open is held at this venue each year, so European or DP World Tour players have significant knowledge of the course. However, a lot of American players are less accustomed to the course. As a result, Captain Zach Johnson led his troops on a pre-scouting expedition to Rome. Now that the trip is about to be over, the team had dinner together. But the veteran Ryder Cup warrior is stealing all the limelight from the Ryder Cup squad!

A trip down to the Ryder Cup 1999

The US team is comprised of many of the best young golfers, including Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas. But Ryder Cup vice captain Jim Furyk is no stranger to the Ryder Cup. In fact, he’s actually one of the most skilled American golfers in the history of the biennial event.

His most notable Ryder Cup moment was the ”Battle of Brookline”, the 33rd Ryder Cup in 1999. Furyk’s singles-winning matches against Sergio Garcia took the US team to a 14-12 lead.

And now the 2003 US Open winner is ready for the upcoming competition. Ryder Cup USA posted a picture of the whole squad on Instagram, and Furyk is wearing his outfit from the 1999 Ryder Cup. The post was captioned: ”An amazing meal in Rome to close out an unforgettable trip 🙏 (& a 🔥 @jim_furyk fit 👀)”. 

This might be a signal to the European Ryder Cup team that 19x PGA Tour Champion is in top form and that they should be prepared for stiff competition from him. Let’s see how fans react to the post.

Furyk is getting his old moves back again

Fans truly loved the look Furyk went for at the dinner. One fan said this is the flex only Furyk can pull off. He commented: ”What a Furyk flex”

One 53-year-old golfer is getting his old moves back again. He penned: ”Furyk going old school Ryder.”

For one fan, American golfer’s shirt is nothing but legendary. She wrote: ”Furyk shirt is legendary”

One fan knew that the comments section was filled with people praising the shirt. But he couldn’t help but write: ”It’s been said 4x already, but the ‘99 shirt is lit.”

The golfers like Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods missed out on this year’s Ryder Cup truly saddened many fans. One wrote: ”This room is really missing Tiger and Phil” while other penned down: ”Not seeing dj there is really frustrating”
