The 2022 PGA Championship round 2 got done on Friday. The second round at Southern Hills Country Club was tough. Apart from the golf course itself posing many challenges to the professionals, gusty winds made it even more challenging for the players. After 36 holes, several prominent names did not make the cut and saw their quest for the major come to a premature conclusion.

The second round included a mixed bag of emotions for various professionals, with Tiger Woods making the cut again in the 2022 season. At the same time, some of the other prominent names had to leave early as they missed the cutline of four-over-par.

The field for the major championship event included 156 professionals, but only 79 players made the cut. (At the PGA Championship, this includes the top 70 and ties). The big names to miss the weekend at the PGA Championship include:

- Current World Number One, Scottie Scheffler, carded one-over-par (71) in the first round, and five-over-par (75) in the second round. As a result, the 2022 Masters champion ended the second round with an overall score of six-over-par and missed the cut by two strokes.
- Following Scheffler is the former World Number One, Dustin Johnson. He carded two identical rounds of three-over-par (73) to finish the event with an overall score of six-over-par. Hence, Johnson missed the cut by two shots.
- Patrick Cantlay is another famous name to miss the cut at Southern Hills. Cantlay carded an opening round of six-over-par (76) and followed it up with a round of five-over-par (75). As a result, he ended the round on Friday with an overall score of 11-over-par and missed the cutline by a whopping seven strokes.
- Harry Higgs could not make it to the weekend as he missed the cut by one stroke following a four-over-par (74) in the first round, and a one-over-par (71) in the second round. He ended the event with an overall score of five-over-par.

- Another prominent name to miss the cut is John Daly. He opened the major championship event with a round of two-over-par (72) and followed it up with a round of six-over-par (76). Daly missed the cut by four shots after finishing with a score of eight-over-par.
- Daniel Berger also could not make it through to the weekend. He finished the event with an overall score of 13-over-par after carding a round of 10-over-par (80) on Friday. Berger missed the cutline by nine shots.
- Following Berger is Sergio Garcia. The Spanish professional carded an opening round of three-over-par (73) and followed it up with a round of four-over-par (74). As a result, he finished with an overall score of seven-over-par.
- Adam Scott also will not be playing on the weekend at Southern Hills. He ended the event with an overall score of seven-over-par and missed the cut by three shots.
Who is the leader at the 2022 PGA Championship?
Will Zalatoris is the leader of the field after the second round. The American professional carded a round of five-under-par (65) to take the solo lead. He is currently at an overall score of nine-under-par. and has a one-shot lead over Mito Pereira. Will Zalatoris be able to hold on to the lead?
