John Daly Has a Strong Reason for Not Trimming His Beard and Letting it Grow

John Daly is one of the most prominent names in the golf world. Even though Daly hasn’t won many events on the tour, he still is an absolute fan-favorite. John is one of the most entertaining golfers on the tour, courtesy of his famous appetite. 

Currently, Daly competes on the Champions Tour. We rarely see him these days on the PGA Tour. However, the 55-year-old golfer is making the headlines these days for his beard. He is continuing to grow a beard and hasn’t shaved it for almost a year now and here is the reason behind it.

Why is John Daly not shaving his beard?

John Daly is one of the fanciest golfers on the tour. He used to wear colorful jackets, trousers, and even shoes. However, John has never kept a beard this long in his career so far. Notably, Daly hasn’t shaved his beard for over a year now, and he refuses to trim it.

Daly started growing a beard when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and has said that he isn’t going to shave it until he wins his battle against cancer. “Well, I started growing it when I found out I had cancer,” said Daly. “And I figured most people shave things. I just wanted to grow this until I beat it.” 

“So this thing may be down to my knees time I beat this cancer. But I am going to let it grow and grow.” Moreover, he even joked about it and said, “I will put my Santa Claus outfit on for Christmas for the next three or four years.”

John Daly was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2020. And even though he got his operation done, he had to keep the treatment going. Hence, since then, Daly has been growing h beard and will shave it off only after winning his battle against this disease. We wish him a speedy recovery.
