It is not a secret that the golf world loves the 15-time major champion, Tiger Woods. In fact, many even consider him their role model. However, there was a time when the whole world’s opinion about him changed.

Until 2009, the golf world considered him a perfect human being who excelled in golf and had a happy family life. However, the news revealing his relationship with other women other than his then-wife ruined his image.

Notably, not many golfers wanted to talk about the incident. However, the two-time major champion John Daly is not like any other golfer. He is known to be open and true about what he feels about a situation, and he did the same with Woods’ incident as well.

The advice that would have helped Tiger Woods from ruining his image

According to Daly, he had talked to Woods about the incident and knows his side of the story. He explained that he told his colleague what made the news to be more viral.

“I said, ‘if you (Woods) would have come out after that night of the incident and told the world what was going on,'” Daly explained. “‘Not listened to your agents, not listened to anybody else, what your heart said and thought – what you just told me,'” he added. “‘This story would have ended in one day.'”

Notably, Tiger Woods admitted all the allegations through a statement after the news broke out, which Daly felt was not the right thing to do.

Woods’ life after the incident

The issue led him and his wife, Elin Nordegren, to split and get a divorce in 2010. He had to pay around $100 to $110 million to the mother of his children as part of the divorce settlement.

After the incident, Woods took a break from golf for a while. He made a comeback at the 2010 Masters Tournament and finished with a T4. Notably, it was the first season he couldn’t win a PGA Tour title since he turned professional. Moreover, his several sponsors, including Accenture Ltd., AT&T, and Gatorade, cut ties with him.

Woods faced several injuries in the following years, forcing him to either miss or not do well in competitions. Notably, he also won a major tournament in 2019 at the Masters, his first in 11 years. Furthermore, he also has been in a longtime relationship with former restaurant manager Erica Herman.
