John Daly is one of the most decorated players in the history of golf. The golfer has made many records on the field. But his fans know him better for his non-country club look and his colorful pants. Daly has a way of creating breaking news with his actions during tournaments. And there was a time when the golfer lit a controversy accusing the USGA.

Why did John Daly accuse the USGA?
Daly has got some amazing skills when it comes to shooting long shots. His short game has also been loved by his fans in most of his tournaments. However, every player has bad days, and so did Daly. But what led him to the controversy was his reaction after an embarrassing performance at a tournament.

Daly did not play well at the US Open at Pebble Beach. He even withdrew from the tournament after hitting a bad score on the course. And this was not the first time he had messed up his performance at the US Open. And after making multiple bogeys and ranking among the last players in the previous tournament, Daly threw some bombs on the USGA.

“The USGA loves to embarrass guys who play in their tournaments,” he said. “I don’t consider the U.S. Open a major anymore.” He even swore that he won’t play another US Open tournament ever again. However, he later apologized and returned the next year.

John Daly’s caddie reacted to the golfer’s performance
“It’s amazing how quickly it went,” said John Daly’s then-caddie, Dan Quinn. He stated that he was excited to watch Daly play. Quinn explained that Daly was playing well till the 16th and 17th holes. But things got all messed up towards the end of the tournament. “One little swing and it was like, ‘Oh, my God.’ “ he said.

Daly’s performance has been deteriorating and many believe that it is because of his age. However, the 56-year-old is still looking forward to playing many more tournaments in the upcoming years. His fans are in doubt if the golfer is going to retire from professional golf anytime soon. But it doesn’t look like Daly is anywhere near his retirement days because he recently wanted to join LIV Golf. Although he was rejected by Greg Norman, he still appeared in this year’s PGA Tour Champions!
