In 2021, the PGA pro-John Daly, appeared as Santa Claus in the PNC Championship Banquet. No one expected that guy to win the championship.
Everyone assumed that Daly was not taking the event seriously and, as usual, he was in his fun mood. However, the banquet ended on a fun note that night. After that, the father-son Daly duo was focused on the game. They were adamant about taking the trophy home.

Even though the Woods duo Tiger Woods and his son Charlie carded 11 consecutive birdies, they could not win. The father-son pair had to satisfy themselves with the second position. And who rose victorious? It was none other than John Daly and his son John Daly II.
The pair won the tournament with a score of 27-under, the lowest in the history of the PNC Championship.
Post that, the Claret Jug winner talked to a podcast host, and he shared the incredible story of the 1992 PGA Championship. Let’s dig deeper and find out the story.
The crazy story of John Daly
Daly has the reputation of being the ‘bad boy’ of golf. And his ordeals will always have stories of his fun and crazy time with his best buddies. Therefore, the podcast host asked the pro golfer when he was the most f**ked up ever during a professional event.
The 1996 US Open winner replied, “in 92, when I was defending the PGA championship, I went out with a couple of buddies from the Cardinals baseball team.” He further explained that one of his pals was a bar owner and gave him free drinks.
And therefore, he and his friends spent the whole night at the bar drinking before the big game of the PGA Championship. As a result, he reached the golf course just two minutes before his tee time. The story began to become engaging, so the host asked Daly about his performance at the tournament.
Unsurprisingly, his performance was inadequate; he said, “It wasn’t very good.” However, something did happen which could be categorized as good. Despite his lousy performance, there was one shot in which he did well.

Explaining the shot, he said, “I hit this drive as solid.” He further explained that the shot was good, but eventually, it went wrong.
Daly explained what happened and said, “I killed this drive, and I hit a bird, it went in the hazard, it was a par 5, that’s probably a driver six iron for me back then, I make like nine or ten. I’m done! It’s over.”
