John Daly is one of the most decorated players in the game of golf. The golfer has tons of accomplishments under his name. He has won five times on the PGA Tour, out of which two were his major victories. Daly’s bad-boy image has given him immense love from golf fans across the world.

But even after all the success that he has achieved, he never got to play on the Ryder Cup Team representing the US. Daly is the only player to have more than one major win in his career and still not make it to the Ryder Cup team.

Daly revealed why he was missing from the team

In an interview with Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz, Daly talked about why he could never make it to the US Ryder Cup Team.

“Probably some of the things that I did off the course. And some of the things that I didn’t do that I was accused of doing, and there was a lot that I did that I really did.” Daly said.

The most unexpected time to leave Daly out of the team was in 1991 when he won the PGA Tour. the PGA Tour is probably the biggest event held by the PGA of America, which also runs the Ryder Cup. Daly also mentioned 2004 as another disappointing year. He said, “Those are the two years that I know I really, really could’ve helped the U.S. I was playing probably the best golf of my life those two years.”

Daly talked about how disappointing it was for him to not be a part of the Ryder Cup after winning two majors. He also said that 1991 was “a heartbreaker” for him as he was at the top of his career and was playing amazing golf. The man claimed that he could have helped America if he was a part of the event.

“It hurts a little bit,” Daly said. “Some of the things I did probably didn’t earn the respect from the players”. John Daly deserved to be on the Ryder Cup team after everything he achieved in his career. He was also in the top 20 in the world in the year 2004 but still missed out being selected for the Cup.
