John Daly is one of the unique golfers on the PGA Tours. The two times major championship winner is one of the most fan-favorite golfers. He is well-known for his unorthodox style of life. Accordingly, John always plays fearless golf with a motto grip it and rip it. However, once Daly revealed, when he plays the best golf? 

Daly is an open book and doesn’t shy away from speaking about anything. He is vocal about his smoking and drinking habits on the golf course. Hence, John believes he plays the best golf when he is drunk.

“Wherever I go, wherever I set course records or whatever, I would be barefooted drunk playing golf making every 20-footer I looked at,” revealed Daly.

Did John Daly ever play professional golf hungover?

John Daly said he plays the best golf when he is hungover during an interview with Graham Bensinger. Furthermore, Graham questioned whether he has ever played professional golf hungover. “Yeah, I mean, I’m not gonna lie. I wasn’t drinking on tour, but there were sometimes on the tour that I didn’t sober up,” said Daly.

However, his popularity in the United States grew because of his insane lifestyle along with some incredible golfing skills. And he has never been shy of talking about any topic or issue throughout his career. But this unique lifestyle, like drinking an incredible amount of diet coke instead of water and other things, has taken a toll on his body. 

Daly is currently undergoing treatment for bladder cancer. They diagnosed him with this disease in 2020, but thankfully it was still in its early stages, and hence, it was not as life-threatening as it would have been if it were left undetected.

Moreover, John now predominantly competes on the senior tour. However, recently he won the PNC Championship along with his son John Daly II. The Dalys won the PNC Championship while Woods’ remained runner ups.
