No Masters invite? No problem for John Daly

The legendary golfer, who had his best finish at the Masters 30 years ago with a T3, hasn’t competed at the iconic Augusta National since 2006. Despite that, his absence hasn’t been felt as he has been following a tradition of his own during the first Major of the season since 1997. During the Masters week, Daly has spent most of his time at the Hooters tent in the parking lot of the Augusta National Golf Course.

“Hooters is like a family to me, you know”, said the golfer while talking about the tradition in a 2018 interview with David Meltzer. He also added, “We have done this since 1997 when I played the Masters, and I do it when I don’t”. While the tent may serve food for the visitors, it also acts as a fan meetup for the John Daly fans.
