Sneak peek into the bag of John Daly

Having played for most of his life, Daly uses the best of the best and what suits his playing style. For driver, the 2x major champion uses the PING 430 LST with 9 degrees of loft and Graphite Design Tour AD UB 6 X shaft.

The driver is made for extreme precision and forgiveness while providing the maximum ball speed. As his moniker goes, the Long John, the 430 LST, will offer him the distance he wishes to reach. The driver goes from $579.99 to $819.99.

As for his Fairway clubs, he has only one and replaced the 5 wood with a hybrid. The 3-wood used by the 1995 Claret Jug winner is the PING G430 Max with 15 degrees of loft and an 8X shaft. The club has a lightweight crown with a lower CG and MOI, giving it the perfect balance of high speed and low spin.

As for the hybrid, Daly has sufficed himself with the $299 G430 Hybrid with loft adjustments of 17, 22, and 26 degrees. The hybrid is known to provide maximum forgiveness; however, unlike other clubs in his bag, the spin of the ball is a bit stronger and has a better launch. Daly’s bag has a lot more stellar equipment and a good range of irons, wedges, and putters.

Irons, wedges, putters and more

Daly is renowned for using excessive lead tape on his irons with oversized grips, and this time he has donned the PING Blueprint (6-, 7-, 8-, and 9-) irons. It has a short blade with a thin topline. The irons will provide a controlled trajectory; however, it also depends on the skills of the individual, as they are tour-inspired and made for professionals.

For those struggling shots around the greens or from the bunkers, Daly uses Titleist Vokey Design SM9 (46, 44, 50, 54, and 60 degrees). The spin-milled wedges retail for $149. They offer lower flight, cover higher distances from rough to green, and maintain the required contact.

Lastly, for the perfect and iconic putts, Daly has chosen the Odyssey Toulon Design Austin, which has a custom-made milled face with SuperStoke Tour 2.0 Grip. The putters retail for $499 at the PGA Tour Superstore. The balls loved by most pros, Titleist Pro V1x, are also in the bag of John Daly.
