“It’s Thanksgiving,” the Spanish golfer told media when asked about his plans after the season-end event of the European Tour. “So, probably put on a couple of pounds,” he confidently said. The golfer, known for being blunt with his answers, added, “That’s for sure.”

Rahm has always chosen not to have any filters while talking to the media. He always tries to answer with complete sincerity, even if it causes him trouble afterwards. Notably, he was one of the first players to address the LIV Golf controversy and revealed his thoughts on the players who chose to play in the Saudi-backed league.

“I do see the appeal that everybody sees towards LIV Golf,” he had said then. Although Rahm agreed that he liked some features of the LIV Series, he didn’t like the shotgun, three days, and no-cut format of the event. Furthermore, the Spaniard was one of the first to express his grief towards LIV players who can’t be a part of the Ryder Cup event.

Jon Rahm can’t get used to the new Tour guidelines

It has been a couple of months since PGA and DP World Tours revised their rules. According to the American Tours’ new policy, the top players, including Rahm, will have to attend 20 events from the 2022-2023 season to keep their membership. The 20 events include 13 elevated events (the three invitationals, three playoff events, Tournament of Champions, WGC-Match Play, the Players, and four rotating events), four major championships, and three FedEx Cup Playoffs.

On the other hand, the 2021 US Open champion also needs to play in at least four DP World Tour events to keep his membership card. However, it also has conditions; three out of four events should be of Rolex Series, and one should be in the player’s home country.

Even thinking about playing at least 25 events per season makes Rahm dizzy. “You don’t want that number to get too high,” he opened up about his thoughts on the same. He added, “And for us to play more golf than we want to play before the Ryder Cup or after the Ryder Cup.” Furthermore, he said, “You want to have the proper time off as well.”
