After some unexpected hurdles, Team Europe beat Team USA to bring home their second straight Solheim Cup title. The winning side fought hard for the title, winning with a 15-13 score. Playing at the Inverness Golf Club in Ohio, Catriona Matthew is now the only captain to have won twice, and one of the only two to have won it on American soil.

Naturally, there was an uproar amongst fans. Team Europe not only came up against all odds but also did so while facing a crowd mostly cheering for the other team. The final day of the event began with a 9-7 score in favor of the visitors, with Matilda Castren and Emily Pedersen securing their respective wins.

That being said, other male golfers also chose to celebrate this victory with fans on social media. The journey towards the win was an uphill ride, not easy for Europe – who last won in the US in 2013 at the Colorado Golf Club.

Male golfers react to Team Europe’s spectacular Solheim Cup win

One of the first players to react was Padraig Harrington, who will be leading Team Europe to the Ryder Cup later this month at the Whistling Straits. Of course, they can only hope for a double win for their side, both times on US soil. “What an inspirational performance by Team Europe,” Harrington wrote, ragging Ryder Cup and the Solheim Cup.

Paul McGinley, Nick Faldo, Matt Fitzpatrick, Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie, Justin Rose, Ian Poulter, and Tyrrell Hatton are some of the other icons who chose to congratulate the team. All messages carried a similar vibe, every one congratulating the team for their victory. Fans too were delighted with the results, only hoping for their team to also bag the Ryder Cup 2021.

Congratulations to the @SolheimCupEuro for winning the Solheim Cup,” Jon Rahm wrote, excited for the Ryder Cup. “Now it’s our turn, two weeks to go!!”.
