Breaking news! The golf world just got hit with the biggest update for LIV Golf Dallas and it is not what you expect! The Legion XII recently announced that Jon Rahm has withdrawn from this weekend’s event due to severe flu symptoms and the fans could not be more sad. But we have to remember that the Spanish golfer’s decision prioritizes his health and recovery.

However, Rahm’s absence will significantly impact the competition, as he’s a top contender and leader. Fans and fellow golfers wish him a speedy recovery. “Jon Rahm will not be playing this weekend due to severe flu symptoms. Get well soon, Captain”, read the caption. But this was not the news that left the fans shocked to their core. As Rahm will not be able to lead the team at Dallas to win $14 million, another LIV superstar will take Rahm’s chair as he rests and recovers.

“Jon has been experiencing severe flu symptoms the last few days. In the best interest of his team and under the advice of his medical team, he will not be playing this weekend. He will continue to provide full support to his team. John Catlin will be the replacement”, read the post. That’s right, John Catlin will be replacing Rahm and hopefully take home the trophy.

But again, like everything in the golf industry, this decision to put Catlin in place of Rahm can be a bad idea. And we don’t say this, but statistics do. Rahm has been in his best form this year, and his latest win at the LIV Golf Chicago is proof enough. So, how does Rahm’s replacement compare to him? Well, Catlin is not even close if we’re going in that direction.

How does John Catlin compare to John Rahm?

While Catlin is, without a doubt, one of the best players out there, however, when compared to the Spaniard, he falls short by a big margin. Catlin has had only two top-10 performances this year. The golfer took the 7th position at the LIV Golf Nashville and 10th at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open with scores 11 under at both. While Rahm has been on a roll this year with 11 top 10 performances and 2 wins!

Rahm won the LIV Golf UK and Chicago with scores of 13 under par and 11 under par, respectively. To add to that, Rahm also finished the Paris Olympics by taking the 5th position with a score of 15 under. So yes, there is a huge gap between Catlin and Rahm when it comes to the overall gameplay this year, but who knows, maybe Catlin is exactly what 4Aces needs as Rahm can’t be there.
