Jordan Spieth Has a Surprising and a Unique Perspective About the Saudi League

Jordan Spieth who’s arguably one of the greatest players of all time and the player with presumably the best technique on tour. Jordan  Spieth is an American golfer who is a three-time major championship winner and also won the 2015 FedEx Cup. He is also the 2013 Rookie of the year winner.

Jordan, before his 2022 appearance spoke about rival Saudi Arabia-backed League.

Jordan Spieth says the threat is good

As the new year enters, players are battling it out in Hawai for the 2022 Sentry Tournament of Champions. Players are playing for total prize money of $8.2 million, but that’s not the only thing in the headlines. The Saudi-backed league has controversies surrounding it. Jordan Spieth, in a recent interview, said that the Saudia-backed league is a “threat,” but the threat proved to be good.

He added,” I think as a player, overall, it will benefit in that I think that the changes that have come from the PGA Tour have been modernized in a way that may or may not have come about if [the reports on the Saudi League] weren’t there, So, I think for us players on the PGA Tour, I think that so far it’s been something that has kind of helped the PGA Tour sit and say, hey, where can we look to satisfy our membership.”

Jordan Spieth Led the PGA Tour in This Putting Stat Last Season

 “And potentially make some changes going forward where there’s some similarities potentially to a league like that, but while maintaining kind of the integrity that the PGA Tour has.”

He said this with reference to new earnings for players that the Tour announced in recent months, the $40-million Player Impact Program. Including a bump to $427 million in official prize money and added $15 increase in the FedExCup bonus pool.

Saudi International

The Saudi International will be held in February, and some of the biggest names in golf will partake, namely: Dustin Johnson, Bryson Dechambeau, and Xander Schauffele. The tournament will be played at Royal Green Golf and Country Club, a par 70 golf course. The tournament will also be played by Asian Tour players. The players are going to play for the prize money worth a whopping 5 million dollars.
