The drama-filled PGA Tour event at Torrey Pines this week finally came to an end. From Jon Rahm rapidly climbing through the ranks to Sam Ryder aiming for a wire-to-wire win, the event was certainly full of excitement. But none compare to Max Homa grabbing a win against tight odds. This wasn’t the champion’s first win on the tour, but it was one of his most memorable. After all, it was his first win as the father of his 2-and-a-half-month-old, Cam.

Since turning pro in 2013, Homa has won six times on the PGA Tour, including twice this season alone. His last win came less than two months before his son was born, and now he has another.

Max Homa eagerly looks forward to some quality time with his son

Soon after his victory, the 6-time PGA Tour winner headed over to his family to celebrate. He kissed his wife and then his newborn son, Cam. Homa was overjoyed to have been able to share his victory with the people he cared about most in the world.

Despite winning the title and the huge cash prize, once he headed home, Homa knew he would be on dad duty. He was, in fact, looking forward to it. “The sun will come up tomorrow, and my son will need a diaper change many times before that,” he said in an interview with Golf Digest soon after claiming the title. “So I will be changing diapers, I will enjoy every second of it as I always do.”

The PGA Tour star added that competing professionally was hard, but a win made it all worth it. “He can poop away, and I’ll just be here for him,” he said with a grin. Homa was excited about his win, but also about being able to spend some time with his family after. even if it included changing diapers.

Homa and his wife faced many issues during their pregnancy

The Farmers Open champion went on to cover a 5-stroke deficit to lift the trophy in the final round. But just months ago, his life had been an emotional rollercoaster. His son Cam was born on November 1, 2022, but his wife faced many issues during the delivery. “She had a horrible birth; it did not go well,” the golfer said hauntingly. “It was the scariest.”

Despite the trauma of the day, the golf pro said it was one of the best days of his life. “It was an amazing day. Get a new son, Cam.” “It was the worst day ever at the same time,” he stated. Fortunately for the couple, everything eventually turned out fine. It undoubtedly made Homa appreciate his family even more.
