On Friday, World No. 9 Matt Fitzpatrick was one of the biggest names to exit the Scottish Open. Rounds of 69–73 saw him miss the cutline for the second time in six starts, the last one coming at the PGA Championship. But, in hindsight, the golfer was able to kick off his preparation for the impending Open Championship earlier than most players.

If his recent social media post is any indication, Fitzpatrick has already put his Scottish Open woes behind him and is currently focusing on getting his second major win. Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the 28-year-old shared a photo of a locker that bore his name alongside the “Claret Jug” symbol.

What grabbed the golf world’s attention, however, was the fact that the adjacent locker belonged to his younger brother, Alex! “Decent! #TheOpen,” the 2022 US Open winner wrote in the caption.

24-year-old Alex Fitzpatrick currently plays on the Challenge Tour in Europe, a tier below the DP World Tour. He is part of the field this year at Hoylake.

Many golf fans were extremely delighted for the two brothers, with one calling it “family goals.” The duo had last played together at the Zurich Classic, a team event on the PGA Tour, where they finished T19.

A former Wake Forest golfer, Alex, qualified for the Open at the West Lancashire Golf Club. He managed to outplay legend Sergio Garcia, who failed to qualify for the major for the first time since 1997.
